Subject1: Nightfall Development Update

Subject1: Nightfall Development Update

Introduction

We weren’t lollygagging around in our last blog post about being as transparent as possible, so we would like to give you a progress update about what exactly is going on around Prismatic Interactive these days. You all may have noticed that we were in the mysterious embrace of radio silence over the last couple of months, but don’t worry, we weren’t just sitting on our hands.

The past few months were heavily focused on laying down and strengthening the foundational systems of Prismatic Interactive, which don’t always look exciting from the outside. Now is the time to grab momentum after a quiet period and share some development updates with everyone interested in being kept in the loop.

After all, Subject1: Nightfall exists because of the people following and supporting us, so it’s only fair to share our adventures with you. Not to mention, sharing insights is how we grow together as a team and community.

Progress Update on the Past Months

Let’s dive straight into the kind of mischief we were up to! First of all, we have expanded our team with quite a few new faces, including the humble writer of these lines. Our team already had some of the most brilliant creative minds (writers, designers, modelers, developers, etc.), and now it has even more. If you are interested in sneaking a peek at them, don’t hesitate to visit our About page on the Prismatic Interactive website.

In the future, you will also have the chance to get a more detailed picture of them, especially the founders — I mean, picking the brains of the people who came up with the idea for our flagship project, the Subject Series? Exciting!

Beyond that, we are also putting strong focus on a brand update as part of the ongoing Subject1: Nightfall dev progress. We invested significant time refining our visual identity to ensure it meets our standards. For example, we are updating our brand colors and overall studio aesthetic. This also includes the homogenization of our UI, art style, and overall tone, which may or may not include the introduction of our cutest team member in the foreseeable future.

Growing the Community

Apart from the visual progress updates, we also started to focus more on community-building initiatives. Part of this is to establish our presence more on different social media channels, so we can make it easier for you all to be part of the evolution of Prismatic Interactive and Subject1: Nightfall, and also to ensure you don’t miss any of our updates.

We are very serious about growing the community. We thought long and hard about which platform to choose to be the main hub between our team and all the interested parties. This is how we arrived at and settled on our Discord channel, and agreed to give it a complete facelift.

Since it will be our primary platform, we want to make sure it’s always up-to-date regarding our latest game news and a safe environment for everyone. We are also in the process of figuring out our supporter tiers, so stay tuned!

Dev Update - What We’ve Been Working On

Apart from expanding our team, building the community, and strengthening the brand identity, we were also pushing forward on the core development of Subject1: Nightfall. Thanks to the expansion, team workflows and internal processes both improved a lot, so the development department could start to build a strong foundation for the game. The brand refinement goes hand in hand with development, and the departments are in constant communication, so we can support each other.

Let’s jump right into dev updates! The creation of the map is coming along nicely, thanks to the hard work of the level designers. They made it possible for us to move into more intensive testing, which cleared up several things that have been waiting for a better environment to test them. This advancement in level design unlocked opportunities for other development work to move forward more smoothly.

There are also some updates on feature development: the team's current focus is to set up functioning versions of all core gameplay systems. They are doing great because they have clear goals and workflows. The next phase will be getting into iterative versions of the game.

In brief, we are making progress, but it is still in its early stages.

Looking Ahead

Now that we have laid the foundation, we can shift our focus more toward refining systems and expanding gameplay features in the upcoming months. The Subject1: Nightfall development update will keep going strong as we create playable versions of mechanics while testing them inside the developing environments.

As this area progresses, we will keep sharing more glimpses, which means more peeking behind the scenes for our community members. Development updates, animation work, and snippets from the story - they will keep coming your way!

We hope that you’re just as excited as we are at this point, when everything is coming together. With the team growing stronger and the foundations now in place, Subject1: Nightfall is steadily taking shape.

Conclusion on Our Development Update

As you can see now through this progress update, many exciting things were going on behind the scenes. Although we were quiet, Subject1: Nightfall and, with it, Prismatic Interactive are constantly growing and evolving.

We invite you to engage further and keep an eye on us, because we will be up to no good from now on! Interested? Then join our community on Discord, follow us on our social media platforms, and check back on our website regularly so you don’t miss any updates. We would also love to hear your feedback!
